FAQ
About Oodles Math & Our Programmes
What is Oodles Math?
We’re a Singapore maths tuition provider for children from Kindergarten 2 through to Secondary 4, and the only certified Math tuition partner of onSponge in Singapore since 2010. Our programmes follow the latest MOE Mathematics syllabus, with a focus on problem-solving heuristics, model drawing and exam strategies.
What ages do you teach?
We teach children from Kindergarten 2 right through to Secondary 4, so roughly 5 to 16 years old.
How big are your classes?
We cap our classes at 10 students, so your child gets the attention they need in every lesson.
What makes Oodles Math different from other maths tuition centres?
We’re the only certified Math tuition partner of onSponge in Singapore, licensed to run the +hinkingMath and PaceUP programmes here, which means you won’t find them anywhere else. Classes are capped at 10 students for individual attention. We’ve coached over 100,000 students, with around 80% achieving AL1 to AL3 for PSLE Math and more than 95% improving by at least one grade.
What programmes do you offer?
Three, one for each stage of your child’s journey. PopsicleMath for Kindergarten 2 to Primary 1, +hinkingMath for Primary 2 to Primary 6, and PaceUP for Secondary 1 to Secondary 4. All three follow the latest MOE Mathematics syllabus.
What's the difference between PopsicleMath and +hinkingMath?
PopsicleMath (K2 to P1) prepare the child with transition to Primary 1 learning and sets the foundation for math. It uses hands-on, discovery-based activities and the Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract approach to build a genuine feel for numbers early on. +hinkingMath (P2 to P6) is our flagship programme, developing the conceptual thinking and problem-solving skills your child needs to tackle problem sums on their own.
How will this help my child with problem sums?
This is exactly what +hinkingMath is built for. From Primary 2 to Primary 6, your child learns strategies to work through problem sums independently, accurately and efficiently, building real understanding rather than memorising steps. Younger children start earlier still in PopsicleMath, using various learning pedagogy including the Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract approach behind Singapore’s own maths success.
Is your curriculum aligned with the MOE syllabus?
Yes. We follow the school syllabus and weave our +hinkingMath and PaceUP strategies into it, so what your child does with us complements what they’re learning in school rather than pulling them in a different direction.
Who developed the Oodles Math programmes?
Our PopsicleMath, +hinkingMath and PaceUP curriculum was developed by the onSponge team. We’ve been their certified Math tuition partner in Singapore since 2010.
Are your coaches qualified to teach the onSponge programmes?
Yes. Every coach is assessed and qualified by onSponge before they teach a single Oodles Math class, and they’re trained in the +hinkingMath and PaceUP strategies. Selected coaches also take part in programme initiatives run by onSponge directly.
What are the credentials of your coaches?
All our coaches hold at least a diploma, many a degree, along with a minimum of 3 years’ teaching experience at the levels they teach. They’re trained in the +hinkingMath and PaceUP strategies, and we keep them sharp through a yearly written assessment, at least two lesson observations a year, and facilitating our workshops. Our Senior Tutors go further still, serving as master trainers at workshops, developing materials alongside the onSponge team, and training other teachers and parents.
How is a typical lesson structured?
Each lesson opens with a review of the previous week’s homework. The coach then introduces the new topic or strategy and explains the thinking behind it, working through sample questions and solutions with the class. Your child puts it into practice on their own while the coach moves around the room, observing, pointing out what to watch for, and giving individual help to anyone who needs it.
Are the children in each class at a similar level?
We do our best to group children of similar ability, though it isn’t always possible. That’s a big part of why we cap classes at 10. It gives the coach room to adjust the pace, stretching stronger students with non-routine questions while giving others the extra reinforcement they need to build a solid foundation.
Does the programme cover Paper 1 as well as Paper 2?
Our strongest focus is Paper 2 problem sums, which is where the marks that decide a grade tend to sit. Paper 1 fundamentals are built into our worksheets and reinforced through the solution steps, and coaches set Paper 1 homework to pinpoint where a child needs work. Practising past year papers at home, within the exam time limit, is still one of the most useful things you can do alongside our lessons.
Can my child get extra help with questions from school?
Our coaches are always happy to help. Class time is tight, so the best approach is to arrange a suitable time with the Centre Manager for the coach to run through the additional questions with your child. This is something we offer as a goodwill service rather than part of the programme, so it does depend on the coach’s availability.
What materials will my child receive?
Every student receives worksheets matched to their programme, used for classroom practice, homework and review papers. Depending on the level, your coach may also recommend onSponge’s +hinkingMath books for extra practice, which are purchased separately.
Can I get the worksheets from before my child joined?
Materials are provided from the point your child joins, so earlier worksheets aren’t available. Your coach will make sure your child has everything they need to settle into the class.
How long is each lesson?
Lessons run 1.5 hours for Kindergarten 2 through to Primary 4.
2 hours for Primary 5, Primary 6 and all Secondary levels.
Do you offer one-to-one lessons?
Our selected centres do additional one-to-one lessons at a preferential rate for our students, depending on the student needs and coach availabilty. Our classes are capped at 10 students, which keeps them small enough for teachers to check in with every child during the lesson. Kindly contact us for more info.
Can I sit in on my child's lesson?
We don’t have parents sit in during lessons, as children tend to settle and take part more freely without an audience. You’ll hear how your child is doing through the ICR Connect app and our post-lesson updates.
Will the coach manage my child's behaviour in class?
Yes. Our coaches keep the classroom calm and orderly, and children are expected to co-operate so everyone can get on with learning. We do ask that students look after their own belongings and leave valuables at home.
Is there homework?
Yes. Your child works through practice worksheets in class, and we set additional homework afterwards to reinforce what they’ve learnt. Completing it on time makes a real difference and helps your child keep pace with the rest of the class.
Can my child attend Oodles Math alongside school and other tuition?
Yes, absolutely. Our programmes are built to complement what your child is already doing in school.
Do you run workshops or holiday programmes?
Yes. We run various workshops across Primary and Secondary levels, from exam-readiness to PSLE Math booster workshops, as well as fun holiday programmes and camps. Our centre team can tell you what’s coming up. Or check out https://www.oodlesmath.com/happenings/
Trial Lesson & Enrolment
Will my child need to take a trial lesson before joining a class?
Yes, we offer a free trial lesson, which includes a diagnostic assessment, before your child joins a regular class.
Is the trial lesson free?
Yes, the trial lesson is free and includes a complimentary diagnostic assessment. Our centre team can also fill you in on any upcoming workshops or promotions running at the moment.
What will my child do during the trial lesson?
Your child sits in on a regular class, working through the same lesson as everyone else at their level. What they cover depends on where we are in the lesson plan at that point in the year, so they get a genuine feel for how we teach. The trial also includes a same-day diagnostic assessment so we can pinpoint their level.
How long is the trial lesson?
The same length as a regular lesson at your child’s level, so 1.5 hours from Kindergarten 2 to Primary 4, and 2 hours from Primary 5 upwards.
What should we bring to the trial lesson?
Just writing instruments and a scientific calculator. We’ll provide everything else.
When will I hear how my child did in the trial?
The diagnostic assessment is a same-day process, so you’ll hear about your child’s level on the day itself.
How do I sign up?
You can book a free trial lesson or find your nearest centre, or simply WhatsApp us at +65 9788 0537 or call +65 3158 5888.
The booking link isn't working. What should I do?
Not to worry. Just reach out on WhatsApp at +65 9788 0537 or call +65 3158 5888 and we’ll get your child’s trial booked for you.
Can I reschedule or cancel the trial lesson?
Yes, however, do note that our trial class slots are limited and subject to availability as some centres are oversubscribed. (we cap at 10 Students per class.) Just let our centre team know as early as you can and we’ll find another slot for your child.
Fees & Payment
How much do lessons cost?
Course fees depend on your child’s level. The best way to start is with a free trial lesson, and we’ll share a full fee breakdown with you after that. Our centre team is also happy to take you through it directly.
What is included in the course fee?
Are fees charged per lesson or per term?
Fees are quoted per lesson and billed per term, based on the number of lessons in that term. Payment is due in advance, before the first lesson of the new term.
Is there a registration fee?
Is there a deposit?
Are materials included in the course fee?
Are fees pro-rated if my child joins midway through a term?
Yes. We pro-rate your course fee based on how many lessons are left in the term when you sign up.
Are public holidays and centre closures charged?
No. Public holidays and centre closures aren’t charged into your termly invoice.
What payment methods do you accept?
Do you offer any discounts or promotions?
Our promotions change from time to time, so do check with our centre team for what’s running at the moment. Or check out https://www.oodlesmath.com/happenings/

Class Schedules, Centres & Attendance
What days and times are classes held?
You can view and filter our class timings by location, level and subject using the Class Schedule tool at oodlesmath.com/class-schedule. Slots are subject to availability.
How many lessons are there in a term?
There are 13 lessons in Terms 1 to 3, and between 4 and 10 lessons in Term 4. Across the year, the curriculum runs over roughly 48 to 50 weeks. Check out our course calendar.
Where is my nearest centre?
You can find your nearest Oodles Math centre on our Locate Us page.
Do all centres offer the same programmes?
Programmes can vary slightly from centre to centre. Do check our centre page, or whatsApp +65 9788 0537
Are there classes during the school holidays and on public holidays?
Lessons run as scheduled right through the school holidays, because holiday lessons are a full part of the year’s curriculum rather than an optional extra. The only exception is gazetted public holidays, and we’ll let you know in advance if a class ever needs to be rescheduled.
Can my child stop lessons during the school holidays?
We’d gently encourage you not to. Our curriculum runs across 48 to 50 weeks, so holiday lessons cover a real part of the year’s learning. If your child stops during the holidays, they’ll miss that section of the curriculum, and we aren’t able to offer make-up lessons or a refund for it. Places are limited and we enrol throughout the year, so the slot may also be taken by another student in the meantime.
What happens if my preferred class is full?
We’ll add your child to the waiting list and let you know as soon as a slot opens up. In the meantime, our centre team can suggest alternative timings at our other centres that might work for you.
Can my child change to another class timing later?
Yes. You can submit a request to change classes through the ICR Connect app, subject to slot availability.
Can my child transfer to another Oodles Math centre?
Yes, you’re welcome to transfer. You can see all our locations and our centre team will help arrange it.
How do I let you know my child will be absent?
Just send us a message through the ICR Connect app or contact your centre directly, and our team will take it from there.
Do I need to provide a medical certificate?
When your child is unwell, we do ask for a medical certificate. It helps us look after the wellbeing of everyone in class, and makes sure we can arrange a replacement lesson for your child properly.
What happens if my child misses a lesson?
We allow up to 2 replacement lessons per term, which you can request through the ICR Connect app. Fees aren’t refunded for missed lessons, but your child’s teacher will pass them the materials from the missed lesson at the next class.
Can I choose the replacement lesson date?
You can submit a replacement request through the ICR Connect app. The dates we’re able to offer will depend on slot availability.
What happens if the centre cancels a lesson?
We’ll always give you written notice by email or hardcopy if a class or coach needs to change, and we’ll let you know the alternative time slot.
Progress, Policies & Withdrawal
How will I know whether my child is improving?
You’ll receive a termly progress report through the ICR Connect app, with graphs and detail on your child’s learning journey. We also assess every student at the start of the year, mid-year and end of year, so you can follow their progress across the whole journey.
What is ICR Connect?
ICR Connect is our official parent and student app, shared with our brand I Can Read. You’ll use it for progress reports, class schedules, attendance, billing, replacement requests, and messaging our team directly.
How often will I receive a progress report?
Termly, through the ICR Connect app.
Do you hold Parent-Teacher Meetings?
Yes. We hold sessions after lessons to keep you updated on how your child is doing, and our start-of-year, mid-year and end-of-year assessments give you a clear picture of their progress over time.
How can I support my child's learning at home?
We set homework after each lesson to reinforce what your child has learnt, and completing it on time helps them keep pace with the class. Our materials are planned to cover the key learning objectives for the year, so extra practice isn’t essential, though more exposure to different question types certainly helps. We also ask parents to share their child’s school assessment papers with us each term, by email or photocopy, so we can track progress and target support where it’s needed most.
Can I photocopy or share the worksheets?
The worksheets are copyright of onSponge, and any additional resources from the centre are proprietary too, so they can’t be reproduced or shared without written permission from the copyright owner. They’re there for your child’s own use, and your coach can point you to onSponge’s published practice books if you’d like more for home.
Can I withdraw if my child doesn't enjoy the programme?
Yes, you can withdraw at any time. Your $200 deposit is refundable once outstanding fees are settled, the current term is completed, and you’ve given us at least 4 lessons’ written notice. The registration fee and material fee are non-refundable.
How do I submit a withdrawal request?
Ask your centre for a Withdrawal Form, fill it in and return it to us. Your notice period starts from the date you submit it.
What is your refund policy?
Our course fee, material fee and registration fee are non-refundable and non-transferable. The deposit is refundable once outstanding fees are paid, the full term is completed, and you’ve given at least 4 lessons’ written notice before the end of the term.
When will my deposit be refunded?
Once all three conditions are met: outstanding course fees paid, the current term completed, and at least 4 lessons’ written notice given before the end of the term.
Will I receive a refund for unused materials?
The material fee is non-refundable.
Can I temporarily suspend my child's classes?
Please speak to our centre team, who can advise based on our current terms of enrolment.
